CREATING THE DREAM

When love and skill work together, expect a master piece – John Ruskin

When asked why people invent, Mark Twain replied,

  1. ‘’To give birth to an idea.
  2. To discover a great thought
  3. An intellectual nugget, right under the dust of a field that many a brain had gone    over before.
  4. To be the first – that is the idea”

Indeed, one of the deepest joys in life is to be creative; to put yourself into something innovative and worthwhile, and then to see it come to fruition. But the process of creating can be cumbersome before you experience the rewards.

Principles that enable the art of creating include:

  • Vision
  • Innovation
  • Quality

Ask your selves what you want to be at the end of your stay in Excel Modern Integrated Schools, then work towards it.  Every one of you is expected to submit your ‘vision’ as this will enable management plan a field trip that will be instructive and beneficial to actualizing the dream you have created.

VISION:

While dreaming you are creating. All things are created twice. Vision is the first creation.  For it is the mental creation (dream/vision) that precedes the physical which is called the second creation. As we study through the new Academic Session, we must determine to crave for excellence as we translate the dreams/visions into realities (second creation).

Now, “determine that the thing can and shall be done and then we shall find the way’’– ABRAHAM LINCOLN

  • Vision for a House is called BLUEPRINT
  • Vision for a life is called MISSION
  • Vision for a day is called a GOAL & PLAN
  • Vision for a parent is called a BELIEF in the unseen potential of a child.
  • Vision for all, it is the MENTAL CREATION which always precedes the physical, or second creation.

Reflect on the above and ask, ‘Where do I want to be, five years from now? What do I want to become ten years from now? To answer these questions takes time and requires more dreaming.

So make your first creation and come up with your second creation!

DAILY VISIONS – GOALS AND PLANS

Congratulations!

The outcome of your first dreams/visions have reached us and we are working on them, to enable you realise them or may want to have another and change your first! We shall endeavour to expose you to the physical nature of your dreams/visions, when we resume from this mid-term break by October 28!

Those who have not dreamt, please do so, write and submit your dreams/visions, as earlier directed.

As you work on your daily dreams/visions – goals and plans, the pertinent questions are:

  1. “What specifically can you do today that will help propel you toward achieving your visions/dreams of tomorrow?”
  2. “Are your expectations high enough? Too high?”

The secrets are in Books! Books!! And Books!!! These will open your subconscious and conscious minds to the realities of your dreams/visions.

As students, your goals and plans are hidden in books and so study to unveil the secrets you have dreamt of and break the goals down into meaningful milestones – points of celebration.

Sooner or later you shall be celebrated!

THE ARTS, THE SCIENCES & THEIR TOOLS

At your present educational level, there are two broad classifications – Arts and Sciences. Your dreams will definitely fall into one, whether you perform very well in both classes or not. Within these classes, you are required to pick your tools based on your love and the skills acquired over the years as students. Be convinced within you before making the choice. Don’t peep into the choice of your neighbour, friend or peer group before making yours. This might be dangerous!

While drafting this message, I was moved to check the SUGESTION BOX to see if there is any letter. I found a bunch of them! What is the message in most of the letters? Comparison of ARTS and SCIENCES! A particular group does not see why both should be graded together. In their own words, “it is easier to score higher in a particular class than the other.”  This is not true! However, we shall consider grading both differently. What is uppermost is your in-depth knowledge of the subjects you have chosen. This will be realised by the attitude towards your study plans.

Again at secondary school level you embrace general knowledge in both ARTS and SCIENCES. Hence more subjects to study. Let your love and skill be the motivating factors propelling you through a chosen career.

“Determine that the thing can and shall be done and then we shall find the way”- Abraham Lincoln.

CREATING THE DREAM

When love and skill work together, expect a master piece – John Ruskin

On Behalf of all the Staff of the Schools, I welcome every one back from the first Midterm break for this Academic Session. Our collective hope is that every one of you enjoyed yourselves. To God be all the glory for His protection throughout the short break. We expect you to face the next half of the term and beyond with greater determination.

While you were enjoying the Midterm break, the Parent Teachers’ Association (PTA) had her first General Meeting of the Session, with some of your colleagues in attendance. Unfortunately, not all parents attended as only about 30% did. Some of the major issues discussed were bullying, lateness, indebtedness, etc. If your concern in School is to bully or any of the above, then you have challenge with fulfilling your dreams or visions, as you will not achieve your daily plans/goals because of distraction or expulsion.  There are three choices that provide the foundation for your achieving everyday greatness, these are stated below:

  1. The choice to act. This represents the energy you bring to life – your will power.
  2. The choice of purpose. This represents the destination – your dreams/visions.
  3. The choice for principles. Determine how you will attain your goals

Dear students, your positive responses to these three choices shall distinguish you and cause you to excel in your chosen career. Not distracting yourselves by disobeying rules and regulations of the School.

Don’t allow peer group influence derail you from your dreams/visions.  You have skills/experiences and talents exclusive to you. Trust them! But above all, make the three choices spelt out above.
